IT Certification Verification
How to Verify a Salesforce Certification
Verify Salesforce Administrator, Developer, Architect, and Consultant certifications through Salesforce's official certification verification portal and Trailhead profiles. Covers credential lookup, Salesforce Accredited Professional program, and red flags.
Quick answer
Ask the candidate to share their Salesforce Trailhead profile URL (trailhead.salesforce.com/me/[username]) — this publicly displays all earned Salesforce certifications, badges, and superbadges. For employer-initiated verification without the candidate's profile link, use Salesforce's official Certification Verification tool at trailhead.salesforce.com/credentials/verification.
Salesforce certification tiers
Salesforce organizes certifications across several role tracks:
| Track | Example Certifications |
|---|---|
| Administrator | Salesforce Administrator, Advanced Administrator |
| Developer | Platform Developer I, Platform Developer II, JavaScript Developer I |
| Architect | Application Architect, System Architect, Certified Technical Architect (CTA) |
| Consultant | Sales Cloud Consultant, Service Cloud Consultant, Marketing Cloud Consultant |
| Specialist | Einstein Analytics, CPQ Specialist, Field Service Lightning |
| AI / Agentforce | AI Specialist, AI Associate, Agentforce Specialist (newer credentials) |
The Salesforce Administrator certification is the most common entry point and the baseline for most Salesforce roles. Architect credentials (Application, System, CTA) are the most advanced and rare.
Verification via Trailhead profile
Salesforce's learning and credentialing platform is Trailhead. Every certified professional has a Trailhead profile that publicly displays their certifications. This is the most reliable verification method.
- Ask the candidate for their Trailhead profile URL (trailhead.salesforce.com/me/[username])
- Open the profile in a browser — it loads publicly without login
- Navigate to the “Credentials” section to see all active certifications
- Confirm the certification name(s) match what was claimed on the resume
Active certifications appear on the Trailhead profile. Expired certifications that have not been renewed are typically removed from or flagged on the profile.
Verification via Salesforce Certification Verification tool
For employer-initiated verification without requiring the candidate's profile link:
- Go to trailhead.salesforce.com/credentials/verification
- Enter the candidate's full name and email address (the email associated with their Salesforce account)
- The tool will display all active certifications associated with that email
Email address required
The official verification tool requires the candidate's Salesforce account email address. If the candidate uses a different email for their Salesforce account than their professional email, the lookup may return no results. In that case, request their Trailhead profile URL instead.
